Science Review

The students played Kahoot this past week in order to prepare for their first science test.


Minion Visit

On Tuesday, October 24th, we had a special lunch visitor!


Math

The students in room 122 will have their Chapter 3 Math Test on Addition on Monday, October 30th. Please practice addition with and without regrouping.

Chapter 4 is about Subtraction. Students will practice subtraction with and without regrouping (borrowing).

Our first Skate Party of the 2017/2018 school year was a SUCCESS!


Parent/Teacher Conferences

Conferences will be on Wednesday, November 8th (5:00-7:30p.m.) and Thursday, November 9th (12:45-3:15p.m. & 5:00-7:30p.m.). Please sign up for a conference time. Because conferences are scheduled in 15 minute increments, please be respectful of others and arrive on time.

Fire Safety Assembly

On Thursday, October 26th, Firefighters Epperson and Maury came to Arno to talk with the students about fire prevention, fire safety, bike safety, and Halloween safety. The assembly ended outside and the students were able to climb up and through the fire truck!


October PBIS Reward

On Friday, October 27th, students who had 6 or fewer color changes earned the October PBIS Reward. The October PBIS Reward was Bingo in the cafeteria.


Halloween

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Students at Arno Elementary have a half day on Tuesday, October 31st. Children may come to school dressed in his/her Halloween costume. Please leave costume weapons and accessories at home.

Students do not need to bring in candy. However, if you would like to send in candy, candy will be put in ziploc bags and the bags will be sent home.

STUDENTS SHOULD LEAVE THEIR BACKPACKS AT HOME ON HALLOWEEN!

*** If you are planning on signing your child out after the parade, please see me in the classroom to sign out your child. If you wish, you may also sign your child out in the office. However, the office will be extra busy with sign-out requests.

Science

The students in room 122 completed a science study guide as a class today. All answers were discussed as a class, then written on the document camera and displayed on the board. All students were strongly encouraged to write down the correct answers. The third graders at Arno will have a science test on Friday, October 27th. If you and your child study from the study guide, your student should do very well on the test.

Science

On Friday, October 13th, students continued exploring how human beings have modified plants based on our knowledge of how plants inherit their traits. In the activity students played a pattern-matching game where they discovered that some fruits are related to each other.

We have completed the science unit: The Power of Flowers: Life Cycle, Traits, and Heredity. As a result, we will be completing a study guide in class on Friday, 10/20/17. Our science test will be on Friday, 10/27/17.

PBIS in the Lunchroom

Each month, the classes at Arno have a chance to earn the golden lunch tray! Classes earn the golden tray by being the most responsible, most respectful, and the safest class in the lunchroom for an entire month. Each grade level has 1 golden tray winner a month. Mrs. Burgess awarded our class with the golden tray for the month of September! Congratulations to Room 122 students for being safe, respectful, and responsible in the cafeteria!

The students explored the question, Why Do Plants Give Us Fruit? In this Mystery students learned about why plants grow fruit. In the activity, students practiced identifying fruit versus vegetables.
