Penny Wars

Arno School will be participating in a March is Reading Month Penny War on Monday, March 19th-Friday, March 23rd from 8:35-8:50 am. Each classroom’s goal is to have the most pennies in their bucket and to put silver coins/bills in other classroom buckets. The funds earned from our Penny War will go towards March is Reading Month activities.
If you would like your child to participate, please have him/her bring their coins/bills in a ziploc bag labeled Penny War and your child’s name. This will help the Arno Staff know what the money is for. Also, the ziploc bag will make it easier for your child to carry around their coins/bills while they are participating in the Penny War.

Book and Cook

On Wednesday, March 14th, we read the book If You Give a Pig a Pancake and then we made and ate pancakes.

Author Visit

On Thursday, Arno third, fourth, and fifth graders had the opportunity to hear Aimee Carter talk about her love of writing. She discussed her journey as a young author as well as her book series about her fictional character Simon Thorn. Her series is an international best seller. Order forms will be sent home on Monday, and orders and money are due back by March 26th. I have included an order form for your convenience. Author Book Order

Science

In this Mystery, students investigated magnetic attraction and repulsion. In the activity, students applied their scientific ideas about magnets to create a useful product: a magnetic lock. Students engaged in the engineering design process to test and improve their designs.
