Class Lists- Important Changes

It is very important that you are sure your email address is updated in our system as class lists will not be posted this year, instead they will be emailed out via MiStar Parent Connect on August 31.  Paper copies will be available the first day of school to be sure everyone gets to their correct classroom.

Summer Slide Prevention Resources

Please take advantage of the following literacy opportunities available to Arno students:
Arno Summer  Book Swap
On Tuesday, students will receive a backpack and are able to fill it with books of their choosing. On scheduled Mondays this summer, staff will hold a book exchange in front of the building. Students can stop by and swap out books for other books. Please join us on the following Mondays for this event:

Allen Park Public Library Summer Reading Program
On Thursday,  librarians from the Allen Park Public Library came to Arno to tell the students about the library’s reading program. Please click on the document below for more details.
Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program

This program is here to help you on your way, encouraging you to read books of your own choosing and earn a FREE book, simply by following these three easy steps:

1. Read any eight books this summer and record them in your Summer Reading Journal. Tell us which part of the book is your favorite, and why.
2. Bring your completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store between May 15th and September 3rd, 2018Find a Store

Allen Park Public Library Visit

We had a great visit to the Allen Park Library on Friday. We listened to 2 stories, explored the library, and received a goodie bag on our way out the door.


University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Environmental Interpretive Center Young Naturalist’s Summer Program

Get your child outdoors and learning about nature! Led by UM-Dearborn student interpreters, this science-oriented program provides direct, hands-on learning in a beautiful natural setting. Session topics will include pond life, birds, insects and spiders, and frogs and turtles.

This program runs from 9:30 am to 12 noon for four consecutive days in two age groups:
7 – 9 year olds; July 9, 10, 11 & 12
10-11 year olds; July 16, 17, 18 & 19
There is a $30 per child fee for this program, payment and registration can be completed online by following this link.

Art for the Sky

Wow! What an awesome event! We kicked off the event with an assembly on Tuesday. We made the turtle on Thursday and a concluding assembly on Friday! Our students worked together and created a masterpiece!

Field Day

Field Day for third grade will be on Monday, June 4th, in the morning. Please have your child apply sunscreen before coming to school. Also, please have your child bring a water bottle and wear tennis shoes. There is a new event that requires tennis shoes.


Science

Congratulations to Molly, Ava, Abagail, Lexi, Julia, Caden, Beth, Liz, Alessandro, Davian, Ethan, Peyton W., and Kate for earning 100% on their “Stormy Skies” science test! We have now covered all third grade science standards!


Math

Since we have covered all third grade math standards, we are currently reviewing by doing Scoots. Students move or scoot around the classroom to answer math questions.

Social Studies

Woo-hoo! We have learned all the third grade Social Studies standards! We are AMAZING!

Congratulations to Jeziah, Alessandro, Peyton W., Ethan, Nick, Grace, Travis, Julia, Liz, Peyton K., Jenna, Lexi, Fiona, Kate, Molly, Davian, Connor Caden, Ava, Abagail,  and Beth for earning 100% on their Chapter 8 Social Studies test on Public Policy Issues.


Greenfield Village Field Trip

The third grade classes will be going to Greenfield Village on Tuesday, June 5th. All students and chaperones will need to bring a bag disposable lunch. Chaperones will need to bring a bag to carry student lunches. While on the field trip, there will be a digital assignment. Chaperones will be responsible to take 3 pictures and email them to your child’s teacher. Here are the 3 pictures: School house, Something to do with Henry Ford, and Someone dressed in historical clothing. Chaperones will need to drive their own vehicle and meet us at 9:20am at the Greenfield Village entrance.
