English Language Arts
Every week your child will read an anchor text as well as a paired text. The anchor text is used to work on fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary skills and strategies. The paired text may be similar in theme and/or genre. This text will reinforce vocabulary usage.
Here is our Focus Wall for next week:
MSTEP Vocabulary Quiz Update
We took our third MSTEP Vocabulary Quiz on Friday. Congratulations to Abby, Tori, Alyssa, Bryce, Emerson, Ashton, Cole, and Alaynna for earning 100% or better on their MSTEP Vocabulary Quiz for week 3.
Week 4 words will be sent home on Monday.
Vocabulary Segment on Announcements
Every morning, we watch the Arno News or Announcements. As a fun way for our Arno Cougars to learn vocabulary words, there is a vocabulary segment. The vocabulary segments feature staff, students, families, and community members. If you would like to make a vocabulary video, please email me and I will send you a word.
Motivational Mondays
On Mondays, there is a motivational segment on the announcements. Our class is in charge of recording the motivational segment. After our announcements, we watch a pre-selected motivational video from Mr. Zielinski. The motivational news segment and Mr. Zielinski’s videos are very inspiring!
