Reading Focus Wall

Our reading story for the next 2 weeks will be “Bat Loves the Night”.

We will have a comprehension quiz, vocabulary quiz, and spelling test on Friday, November 6th.


Math

This week, we will be reviewing subtraction with and without grouping. In second grade, your child learned how to subtract with and without regrouping in 3-digit numbers. This year, we will add the thousands place.


Halloween

Students are encouraged to wear Halloween colors or themed shirts/outfits on Friday, October 30th. Students will not be wearing a Halloween costume to school. Friday, October 30th is a half day. Dismissal is at 11:30am but we will begin dismissing at 11:25am.

School Supplies

Since we have VERY limited space in the classroom, students are not allowed to bring in any extra supplies.  Please have your child keep his/her extra pencils, extra dry erase markers, and any other extra supplies at home.

 

On Monday, 10/19, please have your child bring in:

  • A small pencil case that includes 5 sharpened pencils, crayons, and 1 dry erase marker. I will have scissors, a glue stick, and 1 red pen for your child’s small pencil case. Your child’s pencil case will go to and from school everyday.

  • Math workbook, Reader’s Notebook workbook, Close Reader workbook, Arno orange folder, Planner, Journal-These items will go to and from school everyday.

  • Water Bottle-This will go to and from school everyday.

  • Headphones/Earbuds-Your child’s headphones will go to and from school every day.

  • Old Sock-To be used to erase dry erase marker. This will stay at school unless you ask your child to bring it home.

  • Your child’s Reading and Social studies textbooks. These books will stay at school unless you ask your child to bring them home.

  • The ziploc bag of leveled books. Leveled reading books will stay at school unless you ask your child to bring them home.

  • Extra mask-This will stay in your child’s backpack for emergencies.

  • Personal Hand Sanitizer (if possible)-We will also have hand sanitizer in the classroom for students to use.

  • Sweatshirt-We will be keeping our windows open so it may be chilly in the classroom. Please have your child bring a sweatshirt everyday.

  • Morning snack-We will be having a morning snack everyday.

 

On Tuesday, 10/20, please have your child bring in:

  • 2 Kleenex boxes of tissues

  • Girls-1 box of quart size bags

  • Boys-1 box of gallon size bags

  • Clorox disinfecting wipes-3 pack (if possible)

  • Hand Sanitizer for the Classroom (if possible)

  • Lysol Disinfectant spray (if possible)

Lunch Time

Students will be eating lunch in the classroom. School lunches will be free for all students for the rest of the 2020 calendar year. Students can also bring a lunch from home. Please see the attached School Lunch Menu.

School Start & End

Arno school drop off is between 8:30-8:45am. Our line up location is near Door #7. Door #7 is the door near the playground.

Pick up time is at 3:00pm. We will exit out door 7 towards the blacktop area. We will dismiss from the blacktop area.


Chromebooks

Chromebooks will be passed out on Monday, October 19th. Students need to take his/her chromebooks to and from school. Students need to charge the chromebook at home.
